Recreation and leisure activity are among the multiple  services  a  forest  offers  to  people. Moreover,  this  service  can  be  experienced directly  and  is  perceived  in  many  people’s everyday  life.  Especially  in  the  context  of peri-urban forests, this service plays a major role as it contributes to the community’s wellbeing  and  health.  Forest  management  of urban forests tries to consider recreation and leisure activity in their plans, yet it is not wellknow  what  preferences  people  have.  But identifying  the  preferences  for  forest attributes poses a challenge because people may not express their preferences clearly or are not aware of the specific forest attributes that  contribute  to  their  overall  experience. Therefore,  the  choice  of  method  is  crucial  to adequately  inform  the  forest  service and enable co-creation of forest management.
