Harvesting Process in Romania: Wood is usually sold as standing timber and/or harvested by authorized logging companies based on a service contract. Timber harvesting operations still rely heavily on the use of motor-manual tree felling and processing followed by skidding. Most of these companies are small size enterprises with outdated technology and poorly trained workers. Because of that, the quality of forest operations suffers and considerable damage to the remaining standing trees can occur.
